Time to turn my attention to the base section of the project, which was made from 6mm MDF board. First, using the football and boots as a guide to size, the MDF was marked out and then cut to size using a circular saw.
I thought that it would be cool to cover the base with artificial grass. So, after purloining a length I set about cutting it to size.
Once the grass was cut to size I started to fit some feet to the base. The feet are actually green plastic drawer handles which seemed perfectly suited to the job.
The handles are fixed using a single screw so a bit of drilling and screwing was needed!
With the feet in place, the baseboard was placed, upside down on the back of the pre-cut artificial grass. The grass had been cut slightly oversized so that it could be folded over the edges of the base and then stapled in place.
Stapling finished, and here is the completed base.
